1:15 Farewell

Too often a writer’s words are lost at literary readings. What was beautiful becomes muffled. Language becomes “blah blah blah.” A choreographed reading promises that literature remains so after it has left the page and is spoken. In a choreographed reading, audience members are provided copies of the work to be performed and the writers (or guest actors) read it with the understanding that their art will be heard!
This fall, Flanked presents its premier choreographed reading. Writers are asked to explore the topic, “The First Time I…” through poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. We expect and welcome tales about kisses, love-making, and fist fights, but challenge writers to relay fist shames, first joys, first births, and first fears.
